The origin of lahmacun goes all the way back to ancient Syria. It was referred to as ‘Lahmajoon’ in texts written hundreds of years ago, describing thin dough topped with a mixture of meat and herbs. The dish grew in popularity in the Middle Eastern countries and, today, Lahmacun is an integral part of Arabic cuisine and served in restaurants around the world. Lahmacun dough is made from three basic ingredients: flour, salt and water. The thin layer of topping is a combination of seasoned minced meat and finely chopped vegetables and herbs, usually tomato, sweet pepper, onion, coriander and parsley. It is often served with a slice of lemon to add an extra hint of flavour. We recently developed and added Lahmacun dough to our product range.
