Our dough consists of six ingredients that each have their own function and thus create the perfect pizza together: water, flour, salt, sugar, yeast and oil. In this edition, we would like to tell you more about one of our ingredients: Oil.
Lubrication is oil’s most important function. During the mixing process, the oil is a lubricant for the flour particles, which results in a uniform structure. In addition, the oil holds on to the water so the dough stays smooth and elastic. Without oil, the dough becomes coarse and takes longer to process.
Euro Pizza Products works with five different types of oil, depending on the desired result: rapeseed oil, soya oil, olive-residue oil, extra virgin olive oil and organic olive oil.
Did you know olive oil is extracted from the pulp and the seeds of the olive? Olives are generally cultivated around the Mediterranean Sea and harvested between October and December.
Olive oil contains many unsaturated fats, vitamin E and antioxidants.
